Geraint Herbert "Herbie"

INSTRUCTOR

 

Joined the RAF in 1983 and after training was posted to the Jaguar flying in the attack role.  He then flew a tour as a Hawk instructor during which he became a weapons, tactics and flying instructor with additional responsibility for the standardisation of  tactical instruction. 

 

He also spent a season displaying the Hawk at airshows around the UK and Europe.  Following a further tour on the Jaguar as Squadron QFI, Herbie was promoted to Squadron Leader.  He then spent his final tour as the Officer Commanding 19(F) Squadron at RAF Valley responsible for the initial tactical training of RAF fast jet pilots and their selection for front line duties. 

 

He is currently a First Officer flying the 747-400.  Herbie has flown his own Christen Eagle aerobatic bi-plane for a number of years.
