Comp Air 8 Turbine
The Comp Air 8 Turbine (above) offers
high cruise speed, large useful load, quiet roomy interior, and
comfortable bucket seats (with seating for up to 8 people). Cruising
comfortably at about 225mph (TAS@21,000ft), with a useful load of up
to 2500 lbs, a turbine-powered Comp Air 8 will carry up to 6 adults
(plus 2 children or lots of baggage) in comfort and style.
Individual bucket seats are provided for six adults, with ample leg
and head room. If desired, a bench seat can also be installed to
provide seating for 2 children. The 31-1/2 ft. long Comp Air 8 is 2
feet longer than the popular Comp Air 7, and is designed to take
full advantage of the Walter 601 turboprop engine’s outstanding
load-carrying capability. With 237 sq. feet of wing area, the Comp
Air 8 can easily accommodate a 4800 lb. gross weight (approximately
2000 to 2500 lbs. useful, depending on powerplant, options, and
interior detailing).
For real heavy haulers, optional 5200
lb. or 5600 lb. gross weight reinforcements are available. Tapered
wings for faster cruise are included as a standard feature on the
Comp Air 8. Because the CA8 is intended as a high performance,
fast-flying load-carrying utility airplane, specially reinforced
(carbon fiber) fuselage and tail group members are also included as
standard features. Like all of Aerocomp’s unique airplanes, optional
floats are available for the Comp Air 8 Turbine. The Comp Air 8
boasts a 46" wide cabin (47-1/2" optional), sports 100%
mass-balanced controls for high cruise speeds, has specially
reinforced (carbon fibre) over-size tail surfaces for stability and
control, includes an aerodynamically efficient and optically
corrected windshield, and includes flush-mounted landing gear and
flush-fit thermopane doors. Total fuel capacity is determined by the
builder, who has the option of installing fuel tanks capable of
carrying up to 180 gallons.
Owners of this impressive performance/utility airplane enjoy a
useable range of 500 to 700 miles (with reserves), while carrying up
to 6 adults at speeds well over 200 mph.
