Visual Glide Slope Indicator Lighting

Near the END of EACH runway, a symbol may be present indicating Approach Lighting (ALSF-2,SSALR,SALS, etc.) or Visual Glide Slope Indicator Lighting (VASI,PAPI). The symbols are listed in Flight Information handbooks.

This particular Circled V indicates Visual Approach Slope Indicator (VASI)

Because it is on the end of Rwy. 25 we know that the approach end of Rwy. 25 has this type of lighting. Runway 7 does NOT have any Visual Glideslope Indicator lighting.

VASI lighting is a row of red/white lights on the edge of the runway. When you are on approach, you will see combinations of red/white lights. Anytime Red lights are ON TOP OF White lights (and equal in number), you are ON glideslope. If the lights are ALL RED, then you are BELOW glideslope. If the lights are ALL WHITE, then you are ABOVE glideslope
